ChuChu is a young female artist from Hangzhou. Born in 1975, she graduated from the Chinese Institute of Fine Art in 2000 and in 2007 gained an MA in New Media. That same year ChuChu was appointed lecturer at Zhejiang University Department of Art.

ChuChu creates vague yet bold images on black-and-white film prints. Her suspended objects and overlapping buildings pay special attention to lighting and focus to explore at both the micro and macro level how memory and illusion construct our perception of our society and the city. Material Immaterial is a triad series comprising Tools, Containers and Cities shown as part of It’s Not It, a solo exhibition of the work of Chuchu in Shanghai in May 2008. ChuChu’s work has featured in many exhibitions in China and in France.
