Investment

Whilst we would never claim to be FSA regulated investment advisers, inevitably people do ask us about art as an investment.  Our advice at LiKailin is always to buy art for one reason only: because you have an emotional connection with it and because you know you will enjoy it for a long time.

It is true that artwork very often appreciates in value over time.  And we will of course, be happy to advise you regarding the artists whose work is appreciating in value, or those whose work we expect to develop over time so that they become increasingly collectible.  However, like any instrument purchased for investment purposes, the value of artwork can go down as well as up.

The bottom line, though, is that if you buy art because you love it then one thing's for sure: if the market crashes, at least you will have a beautiful artwork to look at and to love (not many investment vehicles can claim that!)
