Liu Yue
Liu Yue is a recent graduate of the University of Shanghai School of Fine Arts. His work offers a profound consideration of Chinese art’s traditional concepts of proportion, equilibrium, tension and stasis. His photographs, shot in the studio with a large format film, are the final result of theoretical research and planning aimed at conveying the depth and thought of an oil painting. Since his graduation in 2005, Liu has produced four series: Mountain Blossom (2007), Fu (2008), Structures (2008) and Sea-Line (2008). The latter three comprised Absolute Zero, a solo exhibition of the photography of Liu Yue in Shanghai in November 2008.
