Tian Ye
Tian Ye is a Henanese photographer who specialises in photographing little-known areas of the ancient imperial capital Kaifeng, his hometown. In his images of the city park, he captures a stark focal point, a vagrant dog or the silhouette of a statue, with a sense of spontaneity. However, these scenes are rigorously planned to create a unique aesthetic combining nature and poetry. He has produced three series: The Scenery in the Suburbs (2002); Feelings (2003), and Wandering Slowly (2007) the latter of which comprised a solo exhibition of the work of Tian Ye in Shanghai in October 2007.
